Habitat Restoration
Help steward San Francisco's natural heritage with your own hands!
Every week in San Francisco, schools, businesses, community groups, and individual members of the public help steward the City's wildlands through native plant & wildlife habitat restoration.

Habitat restoration & stewardship gives you the opportunity to participate in the city's dynamic natural history and to connect with nature "in your own backyard."
Habitat restoration takes place in wildlands all over the city, in nearly every watershed! Volunteer work spans the full seasonal cycle of restoration: from seed collecting, propagating seedlings in the nursery, planting native plants in restoration sites, weeding invasive plants, to monitoring the results of restoration efforts. Stewards help with rare plant and wildlife monitoring, trail construction & maintenance, and engaging the public.
Weekly and monthly volunteer programs accept drop-in volunteers throughout the city.
See the Nature in the City Calendar for a comprehensive list of volunteer activities or check the CNPS Habitat Restoration Events Calendar.
