Mission

To conserve and restore the nature and biodiversity of San Francisco and connect people with nature where they live.

Our strategies/program areas are public education, community stewardship, conservation advocacy, ecological restoration and collaboration.

Ecological restoration and long-term ecological sustainability depend upon people and institutions changing how they interact with their local natural environment. In San Francisco, a new culture of local community ecological stewardship is emerging. Nature in the City

· Inspires wonder, knowledge, celebration and respect for the Franciscan bioregion

· Restores urban people's sense of place and interconnectedness with their local biodiversity

· Builds Community by catalyzing local wildland stewardship

· Strengthens ngo and public advocacy for the city's nature, biodiversity and natural areas

· Unifies our local ecological restoration and stewardship movement.

We can restore urban watersheds and biodiversity and realize local ecological sustainability by interacting dynamically and harmoniously with nature in the city.
